1. Background and Introduction

The Scale Up Shop is carried out as part of the 'Support to Small and Medium Enterprises in the Organic Agriculture Sector' Programme jointly co-financed by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) in collaboration with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Dilmah Tea and National Innovation Agency (NIA).

Our aim is to spark innovation in the Sri Lankan manufacturing and export sector by connecting local innovators with manufacturers seeking to expand their product portfolios and enter international markets. We strive to foster collaboration, build new partnerships, and expand Sri Lanka's footprint in global markets.

2. Eligibility for the Scale Up Shop

Individuals or teams (whether registered as a partnership, company, or otherwise) with innovative solutions in the manufacturing and export sector are eligible to apply for the Scale Up Shop program. All individuals, team members, and/or employees must meet the eligibility criteria specified in the program guidelines.


3. What happens if you don't meet the eligibility?

Applicants who do not meet the eligibility criteria for the Scale Up Shop program may not be considered for participation. However, we encourage them to explore other opportunities and programs that align with their goals and objectives.


4. Submitting an Application

To participate in the Scale Up Shop program, Applicants must complete and submit the application form provided on the program website. It is important to fill in all mandatory fields and provide accurate information. Applications must comply with the guidelines and recommendations set forth in the program guidelines.


5. The Use of Information

Any information submitted by the Applicants as part of the application process or during the program will be used solely for evaluation, selection, and support purposes. We may share the information with relevant program partners and experts involved in the shortlisting and selection process. All information will be handled with strict confidentiality and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.


6. Shortlisting and Selecting of Innovators

The shortlisting and selection of innovators for the Scale Up Shop program will be conducted by a panel of experts in the field. The decisions made by the panel will be final and binding. Innovators will be evaluated based on various criteria, including the creativity and uniqueness of their solutions, technical soundness, and the robustness of their business models for commercialization.

7. Confidentiality

We understand the importance of confidentiality in the innovation process. All confidential information provided by the innovators will be treated with the utmost care. We will maintain the confidentiality of such information and will not disclose it to any third parties without prior consent, except as required for the evaluation and support purposes of the program.


8. Selection of Winners and Awarding of Prizes

The winners of the Scale Up Shop program will be selected based on the evaluation criteria outlined in the program guidelines. The prizes will be awarded to the selected innovators as described on the program website. The number and value of prizes will be determined at the sole discretion of the program organizers.

9. Limitation of Liability

By participating in the Scale Up Shop program, Applicants agree to release and hold harmless GIZ Sri Lanka, Dilmah Tea, and their respective affiliates, partners, and employees from any liabilities, damages, claims, or expenses incurred during the program. GIZ Sri Lanka and Dilmah Tea shall not be held responsible for any loss or damages resulting from the participation in or the outcomes of the program.


10. Disclaimers

The Scale Up Shop program does not establish any employment, joint venture, agency, or partnership relationship between the Applicants, GIZ Sri Lanka, or Dilmah Tea. GIZ Sri Lanka, Dilmah Tea, and their affiliates shall not be restricted in pursuing their own activities or collaborations independent of the Scale Up Shop program.


11. Governing Law and Miscellaneous Provisions

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sri Lanka. Any disputes arising under these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka. GIZ Sri Lanka and Dilmah Tea reserve the right to amend or modify these Terms and Conditions at their discretion, with prior notice to the Applicants.


By participating in the Scale Up Shop program, Applicants agree to adhere to these Terms and Conditions and the program guidelines.
